Originally from Denver, Colorado, Schyler Vargas has come to Cincinnati to pursue a Master of Music degree from CCM. He is currently training classically at CCM for operatic repertoire, but that does not keep him from singing other genres as well. Raised on Frank Sinatra by his mom, he has always enjoyed singing jazz and blues. His love for a cappella music came from co-founding a mixed vocal group at Colorado State University where he arranged, directed, and acted as vocal percussion. Schyler has had great opportunities to sing with various opera companies including the Boulder Symphony, Loveland Opera Theatre, and the Ralph Opera Center in Colorado and with Houston Grand Opera in Texas. This summer, he has been selected as a Studio Artist for the Glimmerglass Summer Festival in Cooperstown, NY where he will be various roles in Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story and Trouble in Tahiti and Kevin Puts’ Silent Night.
